The Administration Building and Tool Storage, commonly known as the “Boathouse”, located in Töltésszer Street, Győr, has undergone an energetics renovation. The building’s structure is complete and reached its highest point, the topping-out ceremony took place on 27 March. The general design, implementation, and technical supervision were carried out by the TSPC team, taking care of the project from concept to implementation. The renovated building also added new features.
Győr is the city of rivers, the centre of aquatic life, where buildings and piers along the river play an important role. The renovation of the “Boathouse” will not only make it an energetically modernised and automated building but will also provide Győr-Moson-Sopron County with new functions, allowing it to host conferences for a larger number of people and to become one of the city’s events centres.
The facility has 2 floors: the lower floor will house functions related to asset storage. The tool storage area has been extended to 170 m2 and is located in the corner of the building closer to the Danube, with the social block behind it.
The upper floor of the building with its new glass walls provides a beautiful view to the Danube. Following the renovation, a 230 m2 conference and event room for 150 people has been created, which can be converted into separate rooms with movable walls if required. On the first floor, a bathroom with accessible toilets, a kitchenette, and a storage room for chairs and tables have been added.
Minimal structural changes were made during the design process to accommodate the modernisation due to the building’s location on a flood plain. This results in the functional distribution discussed above but also has an impact on the building structures. Only structures that can withstand seasonal flooding have been designed.
The cultural building will be important for the city of Győr and its location will make it a special events centre. This facility will increase the number of buildings designed by TSPC Group in Győ besides the already renovated Dunakapu Square with an underground car park and the Győr Water and Experience Park, which is currently under construction and about to be opened.
